A collection of fine, antique African masks from the Ivory Coast. All of these masks show signs of actual ritual use and the natural patination and wear associated with genuine age. Many of them have been used extensively.
Note: The African masks which list only the Titus Gallery as provenance generally came from various old collections or estates but have no previous documentation.

05. A very rare and old Baule "Moon" mask. The small figure on the top of the mask is missing its head; nevertheless this is a very fine example of a vanishingly scarce mask. An exquisite and masterfully carved mask with deep natural patina of ritual use on the front and the reverse.
